Shilt and Rolla are part of your trekking routes and you will also get to visit the ecozone. There are several villages in the ecozone and you will get to observe first hand the rural lives of the people of this region. The fact that there are no motorable roads that lead up to the Park has managed to keep this piece of paradise as natural and as beautiful as it should be.

Kharongcha Gate Trekking
On reaching Tirthan Valley, begin your exciting journey with a sumptuous breakfast.
The first day of your Great Himalayan National Park Trek starts from Goshaini and you will be heading towards Kharongcha Gate.
Enjoy the views of this picturesque route as you Trek towards the Park.
Stop to have lunch and rest for sometime before continuing your Trek.
Enroute, you will be visiting the beautiful Tirthan River and its scenic surroundings.
Next stop is at Kharongcha Gate where you will be camping for the night. Dig into some delicious dinner and enjoy the warmth of a bonfire at the campsite as your first day of the Great Himalayan National Park Trek ends.
Footwear - Ensure that you pack a comfortable pair of hiking shoes with excellent grip for your trek. Also, do not pack brand new shoes that have not been broken in.
Sun block gear - Pack good quality sunscreen, sunglasses, cold cream and a cap no matter which season you plan to visit the Great Himalayan National Park.
First Aid Kit - Keep emergency medicines for cold, cough, fever, sprays for sore muscles, ointments, medicine for cuts and bruises, bandaids, mosquito repellent and bug sprays.
Essential Documents - Carry a valid ID at all times with you during the trek.
Clothes: Pack a jacket, warm clothes, thermals, gloves, and socks, even if you are traveling in summer as the temperatures drop drastically at night and in the early mornings. Wearing layers is the best way to travel here.
Snacks: Pack some ready to eat snacks like biscuits, energy bars, and nuts, so that you can munch along the way in case you feel hungry.
Carry two water bottles which you can refill along the way.
A good quality torch, extra batteries and a pen knife, should be in your bag for the trek.
By Air - Bhuntar in Kullu is the nearest Airport to the Great Himalayan National Park. It is approximately 60 km away and you can get regular flights from Delhi to Bhuntar.
By Train - The nearest railhead to the Great Himalayan National Park is Joginder Nagar which is near Mandi. It is about 143 km away from the Park.
By Buses - There are Volvo buses as well as State Transport buses from Delhi to Manali. These buses leave every evening and reach Kullu in the morning. You will need to get down at Aut which is a small town two hours before Manali. From Aut you can take a cab or board any of the local buses either to Banjar, Goshaini, Sainj or Niharni.
